Viking HDS

The Viking HDS sets the standard amongst vulcanised rubber drysuits. HDS suits are made from NITECS, a material developed by Ansell Protective Solutions with a US patent applied. NITECS provides unsurpassed protection against chemical permeation along with extreme durability against wear and tear. NITECS offers a high protection index against aggressive chemicals including hydrocarbons.

Viking HDS

FABRIC

NITECS material is an HNBR rubber compound, coated onto a 2-way stretch knitted black polyester lining. Total material weight is 1050 +/- 100 g/m2.

COLOUR

All black

SEAMS

Internal seams are stitched together with an elastic tape for security. External seams are vulcanised with a 25 mm rubber tape. Vulcanising is a chemical bonding process, ensuring watertight seams.

REINFORCEMENTS

Viking HDS suits are fitted with an additional layer of NITECS reinforcing material with a textured non slip surface. High wear areas such as around the zipper and across the shoulders are protected. The trouser area is also protected and extends around the thighs down to the knees and down the front of the legs and over the boots.

ZIPPER

90 cm non magnetic heavy duty zipper is fitted to all suits as standard.

VALVES

Standard configuration includes the following mounted on rubber backing discs:

  • Central chest: Viking Hazmat inlet valve with additional manual shut off function for emergency situations
  • Hose: CEJN fitting, 80 cm long
  • Upper left arm: Viking X2 exhaust valve with 2 mushroom valves for added security

Alternative options:

  • Non magnetic inlet valves, non magnetic hoses
  • Non magnetic exhaust valves

BOOTS

The standard boots are an extension of the leg, where a heavy duty flexible HDS rubber ousole is stitched and taped to the end. The outsole features a non slip surface for grip. A fin strap retainer is on the heel.

Alternative options:
Neoprene lined boots, Nitrile safety boots with steel toe cap & midsole, PVC non safety boots.

NECKSEAL

The Viking HDS is fitted with a Surveyor latex neck seal as standard.

Alternative options:
Bellows latex neck seal or neoprene neck seal. The suit may also be fitted with the Viking Quick Neck collar system, which allows for quick changing of broken seals.

HOOD OPTIONS

Viking HDS suits MUST be fitted with a hood for diving in contaminated water conditions. We recommend the following hood which is manufcatured from the same material as the suit:

  • Magnum HDS hood

YOKE OPTIONS

We offer a full range of helmet yokes also manufactured from HDS material to match the suit. Yokes include: SL 27/37/47 etc, AH3/5, Desco, Deepsea, Genesis, Gorsky and Drager.

CUFFS 

Latex PRO cuffs are the standard fitment.

Cuff options: HD latex cuffs.

Glove ring options:
In order to make the suit completely waterproof, it is recommended to fit the HDS rubber cuff ring system with fixed external rubber ring, and loose stiff plastic ring which holds the latex seal in place.

The alternative is a plastic bayonet glove ring system with a plastic ring mounted on the sleeve, and a replaceable cuff held in place with a plastic ring.

Both systems then make the fitment of a latex or Viton®/Butyl or Nitrile/Chloroprene glove possible.
